Expectations
Before the experience, what did you think would happen?
Before the experience I expected this to be a fun project that would involve me helping younger kids play football. I thought this would be a good way to pass on what I have learned to the kids at the camps and morning lifings.

What did you expect to gain from an educational stand point?
I expected to gain some new communications skills especially with dealing with mainly kids. When you’re talking to a kid you can’t talk to the same way you do to a peer. So, I was expecting to figure out how to effectively communicate with younger kids.

What new knowledge did you hope to gain from this experience?
Some knowledge I was hoping to gain from this experience was knowledge involving leadership. Leading stations and drills effectively could help me gain knowledge on how to get the job done. When dealing with kids I knew they wouldn’t listen to me all the time so it was important to gain patience in this experience also.

What new relationships did you gain from this experience?
I gained many relationships with some of the kids that went to the camps and liftings. They could see my involvement meant that I cared. They also saw that I liked to have fun which was probably the main reason they kept coming back to talk to me.

How did you think you would benefit from your involvement?
I was expecting to benefit in my communication, leadership and patience. Communicating how to do drills and what to do. Leading them through the drills step by step so they succeed. Patience, for when they wouldn’t listen or would mess up.
